Rental Pricing By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers
We price our camera, lens, and other cinema equipment rentals in a way that rewards renters for working with us and offers package and weekly discounts – we offer flexible rental terms. The longer you rent from us, the cheaper the rental gets for you!
1-Day Weekends
When you rent from Friday afternoon through Monday morning, you get the entire rental period for the price of a 1-Day rental.
4-Day Weeks
When you rent for more than 4 days up to a week, the rental will be charged as 4 days – resulting in up to 3 days free per week. The same goes for 2 weeks, 3 weeks etc. – you’ll always just pay 4 days per week.
12-Day Months
When you rent for 3 weeks up to 1 month, your rental will be charged as just 12 days – resulting in up to 19 free days. Planning on renting for more than a month? We’re happy to give a multi-month discount.
Weekend Pick-Ups & Drop-Offs
While we are closed on weekends, and we cannot promise that one of our staff will be available on a given Saturday or Sunday, we try to accommodate weekend equipment pick up and drop off requests when possible. A weekend pickup or drop-off, if approved, will come with a $50 charge.
Insurance / COI Requirements and Alternatives: Deposit or ShareGrid
Camera and lens rentals involve valuable equipment, ranging in replacement costs from $50 to $100,000. For this reason, all rentals come with a certain minimum required insurance or security deposits. We work hard to give our renters maximum flexibility – these are your options:
Equipment Rental Insurance Vendors in New York
We generally always recommend being insured (rather than doing a deposit) so you’re protected in the case of an accident or theft. If you decide to take out insurance or the size of your rental requires it – to bind an Inland Marine or Equipment Rental Insurance. There are a number of experienced insurers out there, but not every broker or carrier offers this insurance – so make sure you check with them first.
We are not responsible for third-party insurance vendors’ pricing or policies – this is simply for convenience to renters looking to get equipment rental insurance quotes. We recommend Athos or ShareGrid.
Camera Equipment Rental Insurance Requirements
All camera rental houses – including us – require specific things for the insurance to be effective and to protect our renters in an optimal way. Here are the requirements that you can communicate to the broker; they’ll know what you are talking about:
- It has to be an Inland Marine or Equipment Rental Insurance. There are a number of experienced insurers out there, but not every broker or carrier offers this insurance – so make sure you check with them first.
- The policy needs to have no exclusion for theft from unattended vehicles (i.e. it’ll cover you if someone breaks open the trunk of your car or back of your truck).
- You can have a short-term or long-term insurance, we’ll rent to you either way.
- The insurance deductible will be placed as a hold on the credit card and released upon successful return.
- If you are renting for a student production in NYC, chances are we’ve worked with your college’s equipment rental insurance before. Feel free to loop us in with your equipment staff at the school and we can make sure they’ll cover you properly.
Here’s what the COI (Certificate of Insurance) should look like, approximately (ever insurer does it a bit differently but this will help you for reference):
